Terms

1. The service

Bot403 ("the service") issues proof-of-work challenges to the browsers of your visitors and checks the answers when your server asks. These terms are the agreement between you and the operator. If you use the service, you accept them.

2. One person operates it

One person builds, runs and supports the service. There is no support team and no on-call rotation. Outages of several hours are possible. Support answers come from that person, usually within 1-2 business days.

3. As is, no SLA

The service comes "as is" and "as available". There is no service level agreement and no uptime guarantee on any plan. The operator does not promise that the service stops every bot or that it fits a specific purpose. The browser script never blocks a form when the service is down; your server decides what to do without a valid token.

4. Accounts and keys

You need a valid email address to create an account. One email address is one account. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for the secrecy of your secret keys. The public key may be embedded in pages.

5. Plans and quotas

The pricing page describes the free plan and the paid plans. Each plan has a quota of verifications per calendar month. When you reach the quota, the verify API answers 402 until the next month or an upgrade. The service does not charge for overage. Your price does not change while you keep the plan.

6. Payments

Paid plans are sold through Link. Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company, is the merchant of record for each payment. Link charges your card, collects the VAT and sends you the receipts and the invoices in its own name. The Link terms that the checkout page shows also apply to the payment.

  • A paid plan costs the price on the pricing page, VAT included. You pay in advance, each month or each year.
  • The plan renews automatically at the same price until you cancel it.
  • You can cancel at any time in Settings or through Link. The plan stays active until the end of the period that you paid for.
  • Your bank statement shows the payment as LINK.COM* followed by Bot403.

For questions about a charge, a receipt or a refund, contact Link support at support.link.com or email [email protected]. For questions about the service, email [email protected].

8. Refunds

You can get a full refund of your first payment: email me within 14 days. For later payments, the operator refunds the month if the service failed on the operator's side. Link pays out each refund to the card that you used. Link can also give a refund by its own rules within 60 days of a payment.

8. Abuse rules

You must not use the service on pages that break the law, phish, distribute malware or infringe the rights of others. You must not send challenge or verify requests at a rate that harms the service for others; the rate limits on the docs pages describe the normal range. The full list is on the abuse page. The operator can suspend or delete an account that breaks these rules, without notice when the abuse is active.

9. Data and retention

The service keeps per-verification records (time, origin host, difficulty, result) for the statistics period of your plan (30 or 90 days), then deletes them. Daily totals follow the same period. You can delete a site and its records at any time. When you close the account, the operator deletes the account data within 30 days. Invoices stay as long as the tax law requires.

10. Termination

You can close your account at any time by email. The operator can end the service with 30 days notice by email to account holders.

11. Liability

To the extent that the law permits, the liability of the operator is limited to the fees that you paid in the 12 months before the claim. The operator is not liable for spam that got through, for lost submissions, for lost profit, or for indirect damage.

12. Changes

The operator can update these terms. Material changes are announced by email at least 14 days in advance. The date at the top shows the last change.

13. Governing law

The law of Bulgaria applies. Consumer protection rules of your country of residence stay in force.
